The Cantodict has the interesting behavior such that if a Chinese compound word is listed in the short definition and there is no long definition to override it, the pop-up bubble that defines the word does not appear. The workaround is to include a duplicate long definition as well: then the pop-up bubble appears.
I suppose that Adam probably didn't expect Chinese words to appear in short definitions.
