I'm trying to understand a song by LMF. Here's part of the chorus:
你有你做你嘅班霸
但我覺得你地最牙炸
I don't understand the words 班霸 and 牙炸 and they're not in CantoDict. Help?
班覇 mean 'the best in one's own class' it was original a horse racing lingo. Race horses are divided into different classes, when people bet on horses, they only need to compare the quality of the horses in the same class.
Currently, this phrase is used in all team sports to refer to the top teams in their own league.
Example: 皇馬是西班牙甲組班覇，曼聯是英國甲組班覇 meaning they're the best team in their own league
牙炸 ( swaggering / get on people's ways ) probably not the correct characters, my guess is 「牙'」is actually 「架」( extend / erect); 「炸'」 Is actually 「肘」( elbow) this give a very graphic description of a manner-- someone walk around extend his elbow= walk like a crab= swaggering
May be C.Chiu knows the correct characters.
