Sorry to say that the note is a mistake: 結 can never be read as kit3.
Thanks to Bybell’s link supplied on previous post, I can now extract the relevant comments from that old link:
“(C Chiu) the last character should be pronounced “lit3”, not “kit3” or “git3”. In Cantonese, we often say “打 lit3”, “打晒 lit3”, “打死 lit3”, etc for the meaning of “tie a knot” … 廣州話正音字典 (p.326), 廣州話方言詞典 (p.129) and 廣州話普通話詞典 (p.236) all give the character 纈 [lit3] for the meaning of “knot”.
(rathpy) In an academic paper, Thomas Chan observed that lit3 纈 ‘knot’ is a semantic loan of the semi-synonymous word kit3 纈 ‘to tie up silk for dyeing’. 纈 was also the only character choice in six surveyed dictionaries published from 1856-1996.”
The latest supporter for 纈 comes from 實用廣州話分類詞典 published in 2011. On page 214, there is this entry:
打晒纈 with IPA reading ta2 sai3 lit3. 纈 means “a knot of ropes”. Example sentence is 幾條馬路都打晒纈.
Basing on the above observation, I strongly recommend that 結 [kit3] be replaced by 纈 [lit3] for the entry 條脷打晒結.
