I myself will try to use 正音 unless it sounds really weird, in order to reduce confusion (since sometimes changing "n" to "l" or having other lazy tones can create more homophones).

I always use the correct pronunciation because they correspond to my Taishanese dialect. The finals aren't the same, but, the initials are. Except for one character that I don't recall at the moment.
