hmm.. Never thought about that! My guess is that the shape of the English letter is not quite as important so you don't require more learning to recognise different fonts.. As long as it vaguely resembles the letter, it is able to be read (if not, the letter's placement within a word should solve the problem)..
Chinese characters seem so specific that an extra stroke here or there would make a difference.. so you actually need to remember the print font counterparts!
