眞 or 真 ?

Hi all :)

Could someone please explain to me the difference between these two words? I've seen 真 before, but not 眞 ... Are they used interchangeably in practice?

When is 眞 the correct character to use, or is 眞 'dying out' in usage and being replaced by 真?
