Here is an interesting film that follows the life of a young girl, Kay Kay from birth to the age of twenty as she lives and grows in Guanzhou. Framed as a documentary about her life and her family, it also gives us an interesting glimpse at China's transformation since the 90s.

What's particularly interesting for me is to hear a Guanzhou version of Cantonese... and how the residents seem happy to slip in and out of Cantonese and Mandarin. The English translation seems a little off at times, though... or at least they take quite a lot of liberties with the translation.

Very interesting documentary! The changes from 1992 to 2012 are crazy. Just look at her dads workplace for comparison.

It's a great shame how she seems to choose to speak Mandarin though! Feel sorry for her parents having to listen to that horrible accent when they see her :D
