" 一 + verb(cause)+就 + (effect) "
" Once +verb (cause) + would / then + (effect) "

“Cause and effect” is probably the more common notion in a ‘一 + V +就’ structure where “一”, as the short for “一旦”, means “once”. So far, our examples are related only to single subject in a phrase or sentence.

The following example, with a “cause and effect” notion, has two subjects:
C朗一落場﹐就成隊波都生晒。(Two subjects: C朗 before “一”, 隊波 after “就”)

Checking with my E-C dictionary, I notice that the ‘一 + V + 就’ structure can also be used with a “sequence of events” notion when “一’, as the short for “一旦”, could also mean “as soon as”. For example:
大學一畢業就結婚 “get married as soon as one leaves university”
一講曹操, 曹操就到 “Talk of the devil and the devil come” (two subjects)

Two more examples that look more like “sequence of events” than “cause and effect”:
一合眼就瞓着 “No sooner had he closed his eyes than he fell asleep”
一見勢式唔對就急急走人 “They hurriedly fled at the first hint of trouble”
