Please don't take offence for not knowing a Chinese character. It has nothing to do with how long you have lived and how much you have read. I'm sure there are other people who have lived longer and read more than you, yet they still don't know some Chinese characters. That's why we need research and re-education. After all, knowledge sharing is possible-- and so valuable-- precisely because no one knows everything. But, in order to share the kind of knowledge that is meaningful to our lives, we do need to abide by reasons in good faith when we search for answers, and also embrace the best available answer when it is found. Otherwise, what would be the point of having a discussion? Right?
