"Superiority" may depend on what personal impact you want your own humble legacy to have in improving the society around you after you have transitioned onwards.
If you are practicing medicine, social work, care providing, law enforcement, teaching, or entertainment, then you should carefully choose a foreign language by asking yourself a conscientious question: "Will the world around you be a better place because you had learned this new language?" If not, then ask yourself "why not?".
IMHO, cultivating a working proficiency in Cantonese as a 2nd language beforehand actually makes learning Mandarin as a 3rd language a "piece of cake" more so than vice versa which, in other words, gives you a bargain of 2 languages for the price of 1.
