Background: I live in a Spanish speaking country where English is the second language. In my First Grade classroom I teach English and have a young girl whose parents do their best to help her with both languages, plus her native tongue. Recently, her mom sent me a letter in English thanking me and the homeroom teacher for our job with her daughter. The letter specifically says she speaks cantonese and even goes as far as to say how many people speak the language worldwide (leading me to believe she's very proud of it) and that she barely knows English, let alone Spanish. The other teacher and myself would like to reply to her in cantonese (that's why we need your help) just to show her how much we appreciate the effort she puts into her daughters education.
